Masodi Sports Club, amidst criticism over its name, has rebranded itself to Odi Sports Club last night.

The club, which has secured a place in the first division of next season, has negative attributions towards it by the public due to its former name, a senior member of the Maldives football scene previously stated.

The rebrand was marked with a special event where the club also unveiled its new logo. The ceremony was attended by key stakeholders such as Ahmed Thoriq who has announced his candidacy to contest as President in the upcoming elections of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

As a member of FAM, Odi Sports Club also has a voting seat in the association's general elections.

A second club has also rebranded upon moving up to the first division; The Grande Sports Club, formerly The Grande Amigos New Generation (The Gang).

The negative attributions alluded to may have been due to the shared names with existing gangs in the country, which may have led the public to believe that there are connections between the clubs and perceived criminal elements in society.

Inter Milan Suffer Refereeing Error In Serie A Draw Vs Cagliari - But Only Have Themselves To Blame For Complacent Attitude

In the view of Tuttosport, there is no doubt that Cagliari’s second goal yesterday should not have stood.

Rossoblu striker Gianluca Lapadula had used his arm to control the ball directly in the buildup.

It may not have been a deliberate action by the 34-year-old former AC Milan striker. But it was still a blatant control of the ball with the arm.

That is what the Inter players thought immediately after the goal – they appealed to the referee for handball to be given.

But the officials decided against doing so.

In truth, though, refereeing controversy hardly dominated the match. Inter coach Simone Inzaghi had little intention of focusing on the incident after the match.

Inter Suffer Refereeing Error Vs Cagliari – But Can Only Blame Themselves For Complacent Attitude

Perhaps Inter were unfortunate that they didn’t get the decision on Cagliari’s second goal.

But in reality, Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri should not have ever allowed themselves to be in a position where refereeing could go against them in that manner.

Inter had scored early on, through striker Marcus Thuram.

However, the Nerazzurri never quite built on that early momentum.

Cagliari stayed in the match, particularly after a tactical switch and substitution by coach Claudio Ranieri not too long after Inter’s goal.

The Rossoblu deservedly got an equalizer in the second half, with Inter having been seemingly trying to slow the match down and see out the result right from the start of the half.

Then, Inter got a second goal to go ahead. This was a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty.

Once again, however, the Nerazzurri looked a bit too casual. It was Cagliari rather than they who had the ruthless edge.
